For the past couple of years African pop music has really took our continent by storm.
South African music is a norm in many African countries and my question is, why don't we hear African music on our local radio stations?
One has to be really ignorant not to know the following: D'Banj, P Square and Fally Ipupa. These artists have major air play on television and they have won numerous awards, yet they are not popular in South Africa. We need to start supporting each other as Africans.
We want to hear at least 70% of our local and African music on radio before we entertain the west.
One of the contributing factors of less African music on radio is the discrimination we have on our fellow africans and that needs to stop.
Radio is immensely influential to growing and changing people's minds just like television. So it's high time we use these platforms to educate each other.
The radio station and programme managers can only do this as a request from the listeners and therefore we need to act on this.
We demand to hear African music on radio!

THE 2011 SAMA WINNERS ARE---
It seems like majority of the country was really not impressed with the 2011 South African Music Awards, with most people only focusing on the venue, the guest presenters and the non- free alcohol. Can we just focus on what the SAMAS are all about, MUSIC!!!!
All the negative feedback I’ve heard the entire weekend had nothing to do with music.
The performances on both nights were really fantastic, they managed to give us a taste of all genres we have in this country in a very interesting way.
The acts on both nights were amazing. The collaborations between the acts on the fan-stage and the inside stage were incredible with no glitches none so ever.
Friday’s performances had the likes of Dj Kent ft Relo, Leanne, Nomsa Mazwai, FreshlyGround and many more.
The live Saturday show saw other bigger acts that really amazed the entire audience. The likes of Die Antwoord , JR, the ever so cool Zakes Bantwini, zebra & giraffe and Professor.
Nothende also did her thing at the after party on Friday night, she wowed everyone.
Regardless of what other critics might say, the performances at the South African Music Awards were outstanding.

The Infinity Event - Groove Armada @ JET
The international duo Groove Armada performed in Joburg this past Friday at JET night club, Household Funk and Flash Republic were other bands that ripped the stage on the night.
Truth be told- the event was badly attended and the sound during Groove Armada’s performance was shocking, but most people and including myself did manage to break a leg.
